Government Official Confirms Ministry of Defence Examining Potential Threat from Vehicles from China, as Staff Instructed to Refrain from Secret Talk in Vehicles.

An defense minister has stated that the Ministry of Defence is actively looking into the possible security risks posed by Chinese cars, and personnel have been advised to avoid talking about classified information in any vehicles.

Security Guidance for MoD Staff

During a recent appearance on a radio station, Luke Pollard commented on reports that MoD officials have been told not to discuss classified information while riding in Chinese cars.

The minister stated that the MoD is “examining” Chinese vehicles within its vehicle pools, but stressed that safety is a concern in all modern cars.

Our department has a collection of tens of thousands of vehicles in the MoD and Chinese ones account for a very small number.
However whether you’re traveling in a Chinese car or a non-Chinese car, what we’ve asked our people is to avoid connecting MoD technology into their vehicle, to avoid having conversations at a secret level in any vehicle, because of the growing risks of surveillance that exist in all vehicle, to restrict those confidential talks in protected areas. That’s a wise and sensible thing for anyone worried about security.

After it was put to him that it would be prudent for the MoD to stop using every Chinese vehicles, Pollard replied: ‘That’s precisely what we are looking into at the present time.”

Broader Security Background

This revelation follows reports from Norway and Denmark have alerted the United Kingdom to the presence of dual-use shutdown mechanisms in Chinese-made buses, which could allow China to disable buses and bring chaos to transport systems.

Furthermore, a Russian spy ship has been shining lasers at RAF aircrew, labeled a “highly dangerous” act by defence officials.

This broader security situation underscores the importance of strong measures and caution in all aspects of official activities, from vehicle usage to communication habits.
