Roughly fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Cars, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.

Law enforcement report they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.

The substance had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then discovered multiple other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are banned in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police report early analysis show the liquid was probably human blood.

"There is still no lead as to its origin; authorities are presently not informed of any physical harm in association with the incident," they stated.

Local authorities announced they were working "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the public for tips.

A senior political figure commented the attack rendered him stunned and required to be resolved quickly.

"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he posted on online, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a assailant targeting people of migrant background in 2020.
